On Saturday, 16th August 2008 members were able to view two wonderful, but very different, gardens in the village of Bergh Apton. We visited Bergh Apton Manor in the morning and Garden in an Orchard in the afternoon.

Bergh Apton Manor
The garden at the Manor was recently designed by Timothy Carless and is planted for colour throughout the year with formal edged borders and beds, pond, summerhouse, thyme lawn and terrace with vistas across 60 acres of wooded parkland.
Garden in an Orchard
The Garden in an Orchard is a three-and-a-half acre garden created by the owners set in an old orchard. The garden contains many rare plants set out in an informal pattern of wandering paths. There was a half-acre wildflower meadow, many bamboos and nine species of eucalyptus.
