On Saturday 9th June we visited two gardens close to Diss. The first was to 'Sundown' in Roydon, a garden well known to many of our members but which we have not visited in recent years. The one-acre plantsman's garden is densely planted with a wide variety of unusual perennials, shrubs and trees for colour and foliage all year round. Recently developed areas include an ornamental kitchen garden and terrace area with water features. Liz kindly agreed to host our plant sale and members were soon busily clutching plants. We also had the added benefit of Liz also selling plants - sheer luxury.

In the afternoon we visited 'Furze House', Rushall. This two-acre cottage-style garden has been created in the last few years and is still under development week by week! It includes many unusual plants, tender plants in polytunnels, vegetable garden and a water feature or two. Lawned paths flow around many of the island beds incorporating established specimen trees, intensively planted with unusual shrubs and perennials. There is a large alpine scree area with a water feature flowing through.
