On Saturday 28th July we visited two gardens in mid-Norfolk.
It was a warm bright day when we visited this garden at High House, Blackmoor Road, Shipdham IP25 7PU
At the entrance 'Plants for sale' - which were carefully picked over before even exploring any further.
The plants were growing well in the garden, having enjoyed this extraordinary summer with its more than the usual amount of rain.
The phlox in the wide borders looked particularly well and were flowering profusely. Some lovely colour combinations and textures added to our pleasures in this well managed and delightful garden.

The second garden we visited in the afternoon was in Dunbheagan, Westfiield, Dereham NR19 1QF

This is an interesting one-and-a-half-acre plantsman's garden planted for all-year interest with masses of colour into late summer from rare, unusual and more recognisable flowers, trees and shrubs. Gravel beds, woodland, tender plants, carnivorous plants and ponds. The owners kindly allowed us to arrive early to enjoy our packed-lunches in their beautiful garden. A few of us kept jumping out of our chairs as we spotted some gem to investigate.
